Lithuania is one of the countries that has recently announced some measures for businesses affected by the current crisis, such as the recent package offered through the Lithuanian state company Invega. Last week, we already saw some improvement in the Lithuanian job market and we hope it keeps going! 💪
The second week of May brought a notable increase in the number of job openings as well as in job seekers. It’s great to see that the interest of employers and employees is mutual.
If you’re not familiar with the Lithuanian job market and getting more information strikes your fancy, our previous report can help you find out more about this Baltic star. 🌟
Want to jump into this week’s stats? Let’s find out what the Lithuanian job market is up to nowadays! 🚀
Job Market Overview
Last week, the number ofactive job openings had increased by 14.7%. However, the last 7 days showed that Lithuanian job market needs more time for stabilisation. ⏳
Recently, the number of job openings dropped by 16%. There has also been a slight decrease in the number of active job seekers. 📉
However, the number of talent and active job seekers remained quite close to those of last week.
Despite a recent increase by 4.5% in expected salaries, there is still a noticeable difference between offered and expected salaries in Lithuania in general. It is similar to the situation in Finland and Estonia.
As the economic effects of COVID-19 have taken hold over the whole world, companies and job seekers in Lithuania seem to have different perspectives when it comes to salaries. They have not come to terms with it yet. 💶
The good news is, the ease of finding a job in Lithuania has remained the same as last week—almost at the ‘easy’ level. ✅
Since last week, software engineers have been leading the way when it comes to ease of finding a job in Lithuania.
When it’s at the ‘OK-level’ to find a job for candidates in Data & Analytics, Design, and very easy for IT & Sysadmin, nowadays Customer Support and (Tech) Project Management professionals may find it challenging to find a job in Lithuania.

Weekly highlight: Customer Support
This week’s highlight is Customer Support —the ultimate solution finders. 🦸♂️️🦸♀️️
The last 9 months have witnessed lots of changes in the number of job openings, one of which was a steep fall during winter. ☃ The numbers weren’t even that low when the crisis escalated worldwide during March.
As for today, the number of job openings is similar to that of April and March.
While the number of job applications peaked in October 2019 and then again in April 2020, May saw the lowest number in this category. Of the 2,558 members of the CS talent pool in Lithuania,10.9%are actively looking for a job. This is relatively low compared to Estonia and Finland.
So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that finding a job in Lithuania is almost at the ‘OK’ level if you are looking for a job in Customer Support. 🎆
Looking at the expected and offered salaries in the Customer Support industry in the Lithuanian job market since November 2019, we see that there was a significant difference at the beginning of this high-speed journey. 🎢
Now expected and offered salaries have switched roles. Job seekers seem to have adjusted their expectations due to the changing situation, while employers might also be reconsidering their offerings.
It’s good to see that when it comes to salaries, job seekers and companies are more or less on the same page. Let’s have a look at the new job offerings awaiting new talent:
And which skills should you possess to be a good candidate for these positions?
Just like in Estonia and Finland, the top 2 in demand skills for the Lithuanian job market are English and customer service & support. What stands out in the chart is that call center experience is the third most important skill in the Lithuanian Customer Support industry.

Weekly highlight: Customer Support
This week, we’ll zoom in on the Customer Support industry in the Finnish job market.
In the past 9 months, the number of job openings has increased slowly, reaching a peak in April. As of May 27, there are more openings compared to previous months. We’ll see if May can break April’s record. 🏅
On the other hand, job seekers have taken a different track over the past 9 months. We saw the number of job applications peak in March whereas we saw the lowest number in February. When we compare the two charts, we see that the number of applications fluctuated more than that of job openings in the last 9 months.
Given the amount of talent, the percentage of active job seekers in Customer Support in Finland is approximately 15%, relatively high compared to the other industries. There are currently 45 companies open to hiring talent in Customer Support, which is lower than in other industries. On the other hand, one of the effects of the coronavirus crisis is that some sectors gained popularity while others have lost out. Thankfully, Customer Support is in the former group. 🙏
The graph below shows that it is easy to find a job in a Customer Support role in Finland and that there’s a strong demand for candidates.
However, this isn’t reflected in the salaries. Offered salaries remain lower than expected salaries in the Finnish job market.
If you’re looking for a Customer Support role in Finland, here are the latest openings which are welcoming new talent:
The most in demand skills in the Finnish job market are similar to those of Estonia. English and customer service & support top the list of must-have skills for the candidates going for Customer Support roles.
Now that we have relatively more time in these quarantine days, it may be the perfect time to build these skills. 💡

It has been 10 days since the emergency situation officially ended in Estonia. Even the border restrictions have been eased with Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland, which is a sign of slow yet very promising recovery. 😊
The recent news on loosening restrictions seems to have had a positive effect on the Estonian job market, as we saw some newfound stability in the numbers of openings and job seekers last week.
Want to learn more about the last week’s stats? Have a look at our previous report here. 👀
Let’s dig into this week’s numbers and find out how the Estonian job market is currently doing. 🕵
Job Market Overview
Last week, the current number of job openings was about the same as it was two weeks ago.
This week saw a sharp fall in the number of job openings by 23%. In parallel, the number of job applications fell by approximately 50%. 📉
Lately, out of approximately 29,000 people in Estonia’s talent pool, just over 12% of them are actively looking for a job. It has not changed that much since last week. When it comes to historical salaries, an upward trend continues for both expected and offered salaries. We’ll see if the gap between them increases in the upcoming weeks. 👀
Market competitiveness remained the same as last week staying at the ‘almost-OK’ level for finding a job in Estonia.
Guess which industry is luckiest nowadays? The answer is the ‘IT & Sysadmin’ sector which reached the 4.5 point, meaning that it is almost ‘very easy’ to find a job in this industry.
Weekly special chart: Expected vs offered salaries across top specialties
The ongoing crisis has changed the demand for various industries in different ways all over the world. To have a closer look at this matter, we will compare the expected and offered salaries across the top 8 specialties globally and in Estonia in the past 30 days.
Overall, out of these 8 specialties in the Estonian job market, the salary offerings of 5 industries have been higher than the expectations of job seekers. 💶
Here are the main takeaways from the stats👇
✅We see the biggest difference between expected and offered salaries in the Data & Analytics sector in the Estonian job market. The salaries offered are considerably higher than expected! 🥳
✅In addition to the Data & Analytics candidates, job seekers looking for opportunities in the IT & Sysadmin, Finance, Customer Support, and especially Software Engineering industries should raise their salary expectations too. Companies are offering higher salaries than you think! 😉
✅While there’s only a small difference between expected and offered salaries in (Tech) Project Management, Marketing & PR & Media and Sales & Business Development candidates may need to lower their expectations a bit more.
This also goes in parallel with the market competitiveness which is relatively higher in these sectors compared to others.
Globally speaking, 6 industries out of these 8 are offering higher salaries than expected even in these challenging times. 🎊👉Global trends are in line with those of Estonia when it comes to the Software Engineering industry. Expected salaries are higher than offered salaries.
👉As opposed to Estonia, companies looking for Marketing & PR & Media, (Tech) Project Management and Sales & Business Development are ready to pay more for talent.
In general, the salaries in Estonia seem to be lower in both expected and offered salaries than the global average.
Weekly highlight: Customer Support
Knowledge, communication, and patience—this week, we’re focusing on Customer Support. 😎
Let’s see what the trends have been in the last 9 months.
March was the most active month in terms of job openings. May saw the lowest number of openings so far, but many things can change before the end of the month. 🤞The number of job applications have been fluctuating in parallel with that of job openings in the last 9 months.
However, job seekers in need of a Customer Support role significantly outnumber the demand in the Estonian job market. This may also be related to the recent layoffs in the industry.
The talent pool in Estonia contains over 2,000 people, and more than 20% of them are actively looking for a job. Given this high ratio, it is no surprise that finding a job in the industry is difficult nowadays. 🤐
So, what about the salaries? How has this competitive job environment affected expected and offered salaries?Since February, there has been a growing gap between offered and expected salaries which might be considered as one of the inevitable results of COVID-19. 😷
At a time when we can mostly get support via email or phone, customer support has gained even more importance. So, as of May, companies seem to be ready to pay even more to find the best talent. 💰
Interested in a Customer Support role in Estonia? Here are the most recent openings for you:
When we look at the skills in demand, we see that English and (surprise surprise) customer service & support beat Estonian. So, you can still have a chance to build a career in the Estonian job market, even if you can’t speak the language. 💪
But we suggest you give it a try, not only because this would increase your chance of finding a job, but also because it sounds so harmonical. 🎶
👏Here comes the ‘congrats’ part. The most popular job opening in Customer Support is the ‘Customer Happiness Specialist’ role at Yaga!

Job Market Overview
In last week’s report, we had shared that the number of active job openings was down by 12%. This week saw a slight increase by 3%.
There was also a slight decrease in the number of active job seekers in the past week. The lower the ratio of the active job seekers to talent, the higher the chance of finding a job. ✅
The ease of finding a job in the Finnish job market is better than the ‘OK-level’ this week, thanks to the decrease in the number of active job-seekers.
So, are all industries at the same ease level? Fortunately and unfortunately, no. 🎭
If you’re looking for a job in the IT & Sysadmin sector, luck is with you. However, if your industry is Marketing & PR & Media, the situation will be a bit challenging for you. Wondering how and why? You’ll get the answer in a section later in this article! 👀
The saying “Money doesn’t make you happy” might have Finnish origins. 💸 Lately, the top 2 motivation factors of the job-seekers in Finland have been new challenges and growth opportunities.
Let’s find out which companies have been favoured the most by those challenge-lovers since the beginning of January 2020.
Weekly special chart: TOP 15 Companies with the most applications in 2020
This week, we’ll dig into the Top15 companies with the most applications in 2020 in the Finnish job market. 🤓 Let’s celebrate the success of the top 5 companies first—Appgyver, Visma, Screenful, Supermetrics, and Mount KelvinOy. These companies managed to attract the most talent in the past four months. 👏
The job-seekers looking for jobs in the Finnish job market are apparently more interested in regional and local companies than global giants.
When it comes to the industry; software, IT, data technology, and automation technologies seem to have been leading the path since January 2020. 🖥📱 There has been a similar trend in Estonia and Lithuania as well.
Weekly highlight: Marketing & PR & Media
In the previous sections, we gave a hint of the challenges the Marketing & PR & Media sector in Finland is currently facing. Now, we will dig deeper. 🕵
We’ll begin with the data from the last 8 weeks.
There has been a sharp fall in the number of job openings in the second week of April, as the coronavirus hit the Finnish job market. It seems to have increased since then and has not changed the last 2 weeks. The number of job applications in the Marketing & PR & Media industry in Finland has been fluctuating in the last 8 weeks. When there was a noticeable increase at the end of April, last week saw a 50% decrease. 📉
Given the recent fluctuation in the number of job openings, it’s no surprise that it has become difficult to find a job in the Marketing & PR & Media sector in Finland. The slight decrease in the number of active job seekers hasn’t helped either.
This week, market competitiveness dropped to ‘difficult-level’ for job-seekers which represents the well-not-that-good zone for finding a job. 😟 On the other hand, our data shows that finding a job in this industry has never been a low-hanging fruit for job-seekers
So, how do these insights affect the salaries?
With the majority of businesses facing the impacts of a slowdown, the offered salaries saw a decrease in the Marketing & PR & Media sector in the Finnish job market. On the other hand, the expected salaries have been on the rise in the past few weeks.
Let’s discover the job openings and companies that welcome new talent:
And which perks do companies offer to their teams?
The most common perks offered by companies are flexible hours, team events, and free coffee in Finland. What stands out from the list is health insurance which can be interpreted as a nice offer considering the current situation worldwide. 😷
👏The most popular job opening in Marketing & PR & Media has been the ‘Head of Marketing’ role at Cavai!

If you’re new to the Lithuanian job market, here’s a short tour. Lithuania has proved to be a durable market in the Baltics, succeeding to remain strong during the coronavirus pandemic compared to most countries. But every good story has a twist.😕
In our previous report, we shared that the Lithuanian job market had seen a decrease in the number of job openings after a long period of growth. But it still ranked better than Estonia and Finland in this category.

Ready for this week’s stats on the Lithuanian job market? Let’s go! 🚀
Job Market Overview
A week ago, the number of active job openings decreased by 19.9% as compared to the previous week. Wondering what today’s news is?
Last week saw an approximately 12% decrease in the number of job openings in Lithuania. What is surprising is that the number of job applications has significantly decreased by 32%. 😲
This might be related to the decrease in the number of job openings. Another possibility might be that the job openings don’t fully match with the needs and goals of the job seekers. 🕵
When we have a look at the amount of talent in Lithuania, it seems to have slightly increased compared to last week. 📈
The market competitiveness remains ‘OK’ in the Lithuanian job market. So, who are the luckiest ones across various sectors? The software engineer candidates!
If you’re looking for an engineering role nowadays, chances are it’ll be fairly easy for you to find one in Lithuania. ✅
What motivates all the great talent in Lithuania?
Looking at the answers above, we can add ‘growth opportunity’ to the chorus of the song ‘Money, Money, Money’. 💶 Growth opportunities and new challenges are in the top 3, just like in Finland and Estonia.
Weekly special chart: TOP 15 Companies with the most applications in 2020
This week, we’ll put the Top 15 companies with the most applications in 2020 under the spotlight. 🕵
Let’s see who the winners of job-seekers’ hearts in the Lithuanian job market have been since the beginning of 2020.
So, finance/fin-tech, pharmacy, business services, and consultancy, and tech-related industries have attracted the most talent in Lithuania. 👏
When we look further down the list, we see different companies in a wide array of industries: tech-based Adroiti, business-focused UAB Icona, AdFingers, an advertising agency, and Amston, a recruiter, to name a few.
Weekly highlight: Marketing & PR & Media
This week, we will focus on Marketing & PR & Media in Lithuania. 😎 Let’s see what the trends have been in the last 8 weeks.
As the number of job openings have been facing moderate ups and downs in the last 8 weeks, the past week saw a sharp fall by 50%. This is what we meant by saying “every good story has a twist” at the beginning of our report. 🤐
The number of job applications have been like a rollercoaster in the past 8 weeks. In parallel to the recent decrease in job openings, job applications also fell by 30% last week. 🎢
So, what is the situation in the second week of May?
Of the 3,382 members of the talent pool in Lithuania, 14.2% of them are actively looking for a job.
This relatively high ratio makes finding a job in Lithuania somewhat challenging after a 8-month period of fluctuation.
Let’s move on to the salaries. How are the numbers mentioned above reflected in the offered and expected salaries in the Lithuanian Marketing & Media & PR sector?
While the offered salaries were lower than the expected salariesat the beginning of November 2019, their roles switched in December.
From the beginning of April, the candidates seem to have lowered their expectations even further. Last week saw a slight increase in expected salaries and a decrease by 11% in offered salaries.
You may need to reconsider your salary expectations, Marketing & PR & Media candidates! And get your resumes ready for the job offerings below: 📝
Just like in Estonia and Finland, the top 3 perks that the companies hiring in Lithuania offer are team events, free coffee, and flexible hours.
In the future, flexibility and remote working possibilities are likely to gain more importance worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But one thing will never change—the importance of coffee, regardless of the country. ☕️
🏆The most popular job opening in Marketing & PR & Media has been the ‘Marketing Project Manager’ role at Smart Brands Laboratory LLC!
