While the recovery process slowly and cautiously goes on worldwide, the number of coronavirus cases in Europe has recently begun to increase again. We’ll see how this will affect the global job market. 😷
In our previous report, we had shared that the number of global job applications in the MeetFrank app was a bit higher in July vs June – there were still lots of companies looking for talent worldwide. 👍
If you’re ready, let’s find out more about the July and August stats and discover the ‘mosts’ of the global job market. 🥁
Job Market Overview
As of the first week of August, there has been a decline in the number of job openings. 📉
On the other hand, the number of job applications seems to have slightly decreased as well. Let’s see what the rest of August will bring.
The global market has been competitive for job seekers in general. The needle is pointing to the yellow ‘challenging’ level for now. 🤔
While it’s even more difficult for Sales and Business Development professionals, Data & Analytics experts will find it much easier compared to others. 🍀
What about the average and expected salaries?
The global trends are no different to the situation in Finland, Estonia, and Lithuania. It seems the average offered salaries exceed the expectations of job seekers.
Although both have decreased a bit lately, there is still a visible gap between them. 👀
Top 6 specialties with the most applications in July
Which industries have had their names in lights in July?
The top industry in the global job market with the most applications in July has been Customer Support, unlike in Estonia, Finland and Lithuania.
If your expertise is this industry, well, you’re the lucky one nowadays! 🤓🍀
Software Engineering, the cool kid at school, ranks second. 👯
The list continues with Design and Marketing & PR & Media industries. The former could hardly find a place in the top 6 in our other reports for Estonia, Finland, and Lithuania.
So, Design is much more popular worldwide than in these countries. 😎 This could also be related to the opportunities and number of job openings as well.
Top 10 companies with the most replies to applicants in July
When we apply for a job, receiving a positive reply is our dream. What if we get rejected? Wouldn’t it be good to hear about this as well? 🤔
The companies below share the same opinion! Here are the top 10 companies with the most replies to applicants in July: 👇
The ‘Kindness Oscar’ goes to Arundo Analytics, a software company headquartered in the US. The company develops proprietary software for asset-intensive industries, like oil & gas, maritime, and power. 👯 Whatever you’re doing, keep on doing it!
It’s followed by the Aklamio, a referral marketing company providing SaaS solutions from Berlin, Germany and Latvian Httpool, a digital marketing and performance company which is the largest international partner of the major media platforms.
When we have a closer look at this list, what stands out the most is that the most active companies worldwide when it comes to replying to applicants operate in the Marketing and Software Development industries.
There are two companies from the US, the United Kingdom, Germany and Latvia on the list. Pakistan and Norway are both represented by one company. 🎆
Companies with the most openings in July
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the slow recovery, and the summer laziness, some companies are still actively hiring.

If ready, let’s dive into the ocean of stats! 🏊
Job Market Overview
Let’s start with good news! The first week of August saw a long-awaited increase in the number of job openings.
The number of job applications seem to have doubled up! Lately, the data for openings and applications are going hand in hand in Estonia.
So, how has market competitiveness changed when compared to July? In our previous article, we had shared that the Estonian job market was challenging. Well, it seems August doesn’t have anything different to bring for now.
While Data & Analytics professionals will find it easier to find a role, software engineers may be surprised by the fact that it has become a tad difficult even for them to find a job nowadays. 🤷
Why is it like that? It may be that the slow economic recovery combined with the summer sun is making it a bit challenging for job seekers to find their dream job. 🌞
Wondering how the situation is in the average salary world?
Recently, there has been a growing disparity between the average offered and expected salaries in the Estonian job market. 🤔
💰 Companies are ready to pay more for the best talent and apparently, job seekers are keeping their expectations much lower.
Now, let’s head to the next section and see which industries were popular in July. 🏆
Top 6 specialties with the most applications in July
Which industries did job seekers prefer last month?
Software Engineering, Sales & Business Development, and Marketing & PR & Media make up the top 3 of the top specialties with the most applications list.
Remember from the previous section that it’s been challenging for software engineers to find a job lately? The more applications Software Engineering attracts, the more challenging it becomes for job seekers to find ‘the’ job.
It’s a no brainer that Estonia attracts lots of bright software engineers, as the country is a world leader for IT skills.
So, which industry couldn’t make it to the list this time? The answer is (Tech) Project Management which ranked in 7th place.
With that being said, we should also add that there was a slight difference between the number of applications for IT & Sysadmin and (Tech) Project Management.

Recent months saw a stagnation in the number of job openings and applications in Lithuania, which was more or less the same situation all around the world. 🌍
This week, we have some good news. Are you ready? 😉
If so, let’s start with the job market overview and how things have changed since the beginning of July. 🤓
Job Market Overview
After a 3-month period of ups and downs, August started with some good news from the Lithuanian job market.
As of today, the number of job openings has increased by 63% compared to July 1. 📈
What about the number of job applications? Have job seekers followed the same trend as companies?
Well, not really. There has been a drop in the number of applications lately. The reasons for that might be:
👉 The openings may not match with the expectations and needs of active job seekers.
👉 Job seekers may be enjoying a much-needed rest this summer.
Let’s jump into the market competitiveness stats.
More job openings combined with lower applications result in a less challenging market competitiveness level in the Lithuanian job market. Nowadays, it’s at the “OK level” to find a job in Lithuania.
If you’re a software engineer, it’ll be even easier for you. 😉
And what about average salaries?
There has been a slight decrease both in the average expected and offered salaries. Even though they got a bit closer this week, apparently job seekers and companies are not quite on the same page — the offered salaries are still higher than the expected salaries.
Top 6 specialties with the most applications in July
Similar to Estonia and Finland, Software Engineering has been the most popular industry in the Lithuanian job market in July.
In the chart above we can see that Marketing & PR & Media has found a place in the top 3, just like in Estonia.
It seems the pandemic has affected Customer Service a lot, as nowadays the number of applications in this area has decreased a bit.
So, who couldn’t make it to the top 6 list? It’s the Design industry. 🤷 It did make 6th place in the Finnish job market report which you can read here.
This might be related to the low number of openings as well as design professionals being happy with their current jobs. It would be worth checking how this progresses in the next report. 😉
Top 10 companies with the most replies to applicants in July
In this report, we’ll find out which Lithuanian companies have been doing a good job when it comes to replying to applicants.
🥁 The champion is Vertex, a creative product development company. On behalf of all job seekers; thank you Vertex, for being so kind and replying to your applicants. 🌟
2nd place goes to Indigroup, an expert consulting company, and 3rd place to KEVIN, an innovative fintech company. 💪
When we have a look at the rest of the list, we can see that the Finance and Software Development industriesare leading the way.
Companies with the most openings in July
We have talked about the most popular industries, the companies with the most replies and now it’s time to switch to another ‘most’ and discuss the most active companies with the highest number of openings in July.
Do some of the companies remind you of something? Maybe you can already recall some of them from the list of ‘kind’ companies with the most replies to applicants?
We also thought so. 🤓
First place goes to Tesonet, “a proud creator and investor of over 30 various global products and projects” in their own words. It seems the company is growing and now in need of more and more talent.
The list continues with UAB Teltonika and Indigroup which you can remember from the previous section. Their number of openings go hand in hand with their kindness. 🤩
4th place goes to Amston, a recruitment company, followed by Intrum Global Business Services, a market leader in credit management services, and world-renowned Lithuania-born website Bored Panda.
The rest of the list shows are that the most active industries in July have been Media Publishing, Recruitment, and Software Development.

Lithuania ended its lockdown on June 16, and now more and more countries are being added to the ‘welcome’ list after the Baltic Bubble agreement between Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. This agreement had started back in May. 🧳🌞
Before switching to July’s stats, let’s make a recap of May’s and June’s and see how the Lithuanian job market was doing at that time.
✅The average offered salaries were higher than the expected salaries in Lithuania.
✅ It turned out that Lithuania-based companies were up for remote offers especially in the month of May and June. The star industry for these was Software Engineering. 🤩
Let’s see what July has brought so far. Ready? 🚀
Job Market Overview: June vs July
The Lithuanian job market saw a small increase in the number of active job seekers by the first week of July, just like in Finland and Estonia.
Normally, there’d be less job applications in summer. But, as we all know, this is no ordinary summer. As the uncertainty still continues, job seekers seem to be looking for new opportunities.
Let’s delve into market competitiveness.
And now, we have some good news here!
Unlike Finland and Estonia, it has become easier to find a job in Lithuania lately. The slight increase has put the ease of finding a job at the sweet spot of “OK level”.
For software engineers and IT & Sysadmin experts, the situation is even better. 👍
Want to know more? No worries, we’ll share a more detailed analysis of the ease of finding a job in the top 6 industries later in this report. Almost there! 👀
Salaries in Top 6 Specialties
If money could talk, what would it say about the average gross salaries in the Lithuanian job market lately?
👉 Unlike in Finland and Estonia, the average gross salaries increased in all industries in Lithuania. When it comes to recovery, Lithuania is apparently doing well. 👏
👉 Software Engineering saw a slight decrease in the average gross salaries in June.
👉 Even though the salaries in Lithuania have been a bit lower than in Estonia and Finland, the increase rates are still higher compared to those in these two countries.
So, what are job seekers expecting from companies? And more importantly, have the expectations and offerings matched so far? 🥁
👉 The average expected salaries were significantly lower in Lithuania in most industries compared to those in Estonia and Finland.
👉 Sales and Business Development and (Tech) Project Management saw a decrease in the expected salaries.
👉 Apparently, marketing & PR & media professionals are the ones who have made the biggest revisions to their expectations with an increase of 265EUR in June.
Despite the increase in the average expected salaries, the offered salaries are still lower in all industries except for Sales and Business Development and Marketing & PR & Media for now.
Competition in Top 6 Specialties
Now, let’s have a look at the market competitiveness in the top 6 specialties in June in comparison with May. 🔎
It’s become more challenging to find a job in all industries in Lithuania except for IT & Sysadmin, which was already at the comfortable “almost very easy level”.
Sales & Business Development saw very little change while the Finance industry faced a sharp downturn. 📉
Despite the positive vibe in the air for Finance professionals looking for a job in Lithuania in the past, now it’s become drastically challenging. 😵
Software engineers may also find it a bit harder to find their dream roles nowadays. But who knows, maybe the end of July will bring much better news for all industries. 🙏
TOP 10 Companies with the Most Applications in June 2020
Which companies attracted the most applications in June and which industries are they operating in?
Let’s start with the top 3. In first place, we see Vertex, an innovative IT company specialising in IT projects like omnichannel support & marketing tools, e-commerce products, and more. 👏
It seems the top 3 choices for job seekers are revolving around the IT and Finance industries. 💰 🤓
What about the rest of the list? Looking at the fourth and fifth places, we see Amston, a consultancy and recruitment company, and UAB Icona that operates under BeDigital and is expanding businesses to new markets.
Recruitment, Digital Marketing, and SaaS make up the leading industries in the list. 💪
Welcome to the MeetFrank family!
🔊 This week, we welcomed new members to the MeetFrank family: Neolainas, Software Development Academy, and Inkodus. UAB!

Finland’s opening up and navigating its way in the new normal. So, what’s the current situation in the job market in Finland?
In our latest report, we mentioned that Finland saw a drop in the number of job applications. In addition to this, finding a job became more challenging.
Let’s keep our hopes high this month, and see what the Finnish job market is up to nowadays! 🕵
Job Market Overview: June vs July
By the first week of July, there has been a slight increase of 1% in the number of active job seekers in Finland.
Coronavirus times combined with summer mode might stop this number from increasing. 🌞 We’ll see how the situation changes by the end of the month.
What about market competitiveness?
According to our market competitiveness indicator, the ease of finding a job in Finland has remained quite stable over the last few months. We shared these stats in our recovery report.
Market competitiveness has increased very slightly since mid-June. This means that job seekers will find it a bit challenging to find a job in Finland.
The good news is that it’s leaning towards the “OK-level”. 🙏
We’ll talk about the competition among the top 6 industries in the coming sections. Stay tuned for even more data! 🤓
Salaries in Top 6 Specialties
Last month, all the industries saw an increase in the offered salaries except for Finance in Finland. Let’s see how things go in July.
When looking at the average gross salaries in the Finnish job market, we can see that they have increased in all industries except for Tech (Project Management).
✅ Sales & Business Development saw the highest increase with an average of 565EUR since May. If your profession fits this sector, the chances are employers will be very interested in you nowadays. 💪
✅The lowest increase was in Software Engineering. Even though software engineers are normally some of the most sought-after experts with relatively higher salary rates, it seems the employers aren’t in an urgent need of finding software talent nowadays. 🤐
Wondering about the average expected salaries in June?
✅ Surprisingly, the average expected salaries have decreased in all industries except for Software Engineering. At the end of the day, companies are willing to pay higher than job seekers are expecting.
✅ The highest drop was in Finance with an average of 401EUR.
So, what do these numbers mean? Why have most industries seen a fall in the expected salaries when it’s been the other way around for the offered salaries? 🤔
👉 While job seekers are trying to increase their chances of finding a job by lowering their salary expectations, companies are actually fine with paying more to find the best talent.
Competition in Top 6 Specialties
Now, it’s time to compare market competition in the top 6 specialties in June with that of May.
The only two industries in which it’s now easier to find a job are (Tech) Project Management and IT & Sysadmin in Finland. 👍
While Software Engineering has recently seen a sharp fall, the Marketing & PR & Media sector, in which it was already difficult to find a job, has become even more challenging for job seekers.
Finance also faced a drop in the number of opportunities, but falling from the “very easy-level” to “easy-level” doesn’t really sound too bad, does it? 😊

✅ There was a slight increase in the number of job applications.
✅ In general, there wasn’t a significant change in market competitiveness. However, the ease of finding a job varied per industry.
We’ll see what July will bring and how things’ll be for companies and job seekers. We hope for more opportunities and signs of getting back to a better normal. 😊
Now, get ready to delve into the most current stats! 🚀
Job Market Overview: July vs June
In our latest report, we had shared that there wasn’t a significant change when it came to market competitiveness and the number of job applications.
So, what’s the news as of today?
The first week of July saw a very slight increase in the number of active job seekers. As of today, there was no difference at all! There might be several reasons for that.
The fallout of the coronavirus is affecting both job seekers and companies. It’s also common to have less openings and less applications during the summer. 🌞
At the end of the first week of July, we can see a slight change in market competitiveness. It’s still challenging to find a job in Estonia. 📈
Is it the same for Marketing, Engineering or Sales people? Well, not really.
While IT & Sysadmin specialists have more opportunities in the Estonian job market nowadays, it’s sadly difficult for people in the Design industry.
We’ll share a more detailed analysis on this topic in our report. Coming soon! 😉
Salaries in Top 6 Specialties
Finding a job may still be a bit challenging in Estonia, but it seems employers are currently willing to pay more, compared to May. 💰
By the first week of July, it seems the upward trend in the average gross salaries is set to continue. 📈
Let’s recap the 3 main points from the stats:
✅ The average gross salaries in Software Engineering, Sales & Business Development, IT & Sysadmin, Marketing & PR & Media industries have increased.
✅ The only industry that couldn’t manage to increase salaries has been Finance. 🤔
✅ IT & Sysadmin saw the highest increase with 381EUR. 🤑
What about the expected salaries? Let’s see if the expectations of job seekers and companies align with each other. 👀
✅In parallel to the average offered salaries, the expected salaries have also increased. 💰
✅ The highest increase has been in the Sales & Business Development industry.
✅It seems Finance people have been more cautious, as there has been a tiny increase in their expectations of only 2.7%.
Overall, the average offered and expected salaries have both increased. It’s a good sign that nowadays job seekers and companies are more or less on the same page. 🤝
Competition in Top 6 Specialties
In this section, we’ll elaborate on market competitiveness in the Estonian job market, which we briefly mentioned in the Job Overview part.
The ease of finding a job remained at the same level for most industries in May. So, what about now?
Finding a job has become more challenging in Estonia since May, except for in the Finance industry. 🕵
If you’re a finance expert, the chances are you will have more opportunities compared to professionals working in other sectors. 🍀
While there is a slight increase in the market competitiveness of the Sales and Business Development and Software Engineering industries, things seem to have become more challenging for Marketing & PR & Media professionals.
(Tech) Project Management also saw a sharp drop in the number of opportunities. Hopefully, next month will make it easier for job seekers in all industries to find their dream job. 🙏
