The Lithuanian government recently approved lockdown-related aid for the labor market. Among other measures, the support includes subsidies for retaining employees for a generous six months after quarantine. 👏
We do hope that such measures help keep the Lithuanian job market healthy and active.
This week, our review shows that the Lithuanian job market is buzzing. There has been an increase in the number of active job openings as well as in the percentage of active job seekers. 🤸♀️
Last week’s report showed a slight cooldown on the job market, with the job openings and applications decreasing in numbers. You can review it here, if you’d like.
Now, let’s see what’s new in the Lithuanian job market. 👀
Job Market Overview
A week ago, we reported significant drops in the numbers of job openings and applications in Lithuania. Looking at this week’s data, we see that the number of active job openings is up by 14.7%.
The total number of Lithuanian talent on the MeetFrank app has now crossed 31 000! 🎉 And we see that 10.1% of the talent are active job seekers at this time.
Job-seeker confidence seems to be going up in May. This can be seen in how the average expected salaries are up compared to April. Interestingly enough, we see a similar trend on the Finnish and Estonian job markets. 💡
However, the employers in Lithuania continue to offer significantly higher salaries, on average. See for yourself:
So, if you’re a job seeker in Lithuania, you can probably consider bumping your salary expectations without fearing rejection from employers. To be sure, do check the salary data for your specialty on the Job Market Insights first though! 💁♀️

The chart for Lithuania is quite similar to the global one. We see that software engineering is by far the hottest field in terms of active job openings. Sales & business development comes in second, and finance is in third place.

Weekly highlight: IT & Sysadmin
This week, the spotlight is on the IT & Sysadmin specialty in Lithuania. 🔦Let’s take a look at the state of the field and its trends of the last 8 weeks.
There are close to 2000 talented people specialized in IT & Sysadmin on the MeetFrank platform. According to our data, 6.8% of the IT & Sysadmin talent in Lithuania are currently active job seekers.
Despite the turbulent times on the job market, the number of active job openings has not changed much in the last 8 weeks. In fact, these numbers are more stable than the same ones for Estonia and Finland. 🇪🇪🇫🇮
In the grand scheme of things, the numbers of job applications have also remained quite stable — with the exception of the last two weeks that have seen a significant drop.
When it comes to market competitiveness for job-seekers in IT & Sysadmin, one trend is very clear: in recent months, finding a job has become increasingly easy.
Next, let’s take a look at salaries in IT & Sysadmin in Lithuania. As you can see, the expected and offered salaries have been exceptionally in sync for the last 6 months.
In March and April, the job-seekers did lower their salary expectations to an extent, while the average offered salaries remained slightly higher. Most recently, we can see a decent recovery in expected salaries in May. 📈
